CND’s Shellac product took the nails industry by storm. For months, they completely owned the market before rivals OPI, Nail Harmony, IBD and others joined the fray. Since then, gel polish has become flooded by more generic name brands.

Some enterprising companies began selling duo sets – a gel polish and a matching (more or less) nail polish. The idea was that the gel polish would be applied to the fingernails, and the matching nail polish applied to the toenails. Some examples are LeChat’s Perfect Match and Daisy DND.
